not gonna do it

nope. I'm not going to rant about mythbusters being a bunch of wankers who devise their experiments so that they clearly fail.

nope. gonna take a bath instead.

I'll gift your ass with my foot.

The next person I hear use 'gift' as a verb, I will personally give a swift kick in the ass.

perpetual motion

or something of the sort... the perennial conspiracy-DIY project: recharging alkaline batteries. (Wasn't there a company selling _special_ rechargeable alkalines about 5 years ago?)

Afrotech: battery recharge. "The experience was about as life threatening as a squirrel urinating on my lawn."

knots -- double fisherman or filthy sanchez?

all along I thought the _sheet bend_ was the way to go ... but thanks to Lifehacker I have been corrected" Tie two ropes together...properly.

Holy shit. there's a lot of info on knots out on that interweb. I'm particularly thrilled with AnimatedKnots.com check out their picture index.

dorky (but cute) in japantown

it's a wonder what I find in my trusty cameraphone. here's minnie in one of those touristy photo things.

date? : just after we got back from japan. when we went looking for .. (nevermind)

half-caff ghetto mocha

bean withdrawl seems to have gone pretty well. I'm a little drag-ass sometimes, but not so bad as when I first cut down on the tasty bean.

I still have a half-caff ghetto mocha every morning at work.

that would be, in a large (16 ounce) caffeteria cup:

1/2 a chocolate milk
fill most of the rest of the way with decaf
and then some caff at the top

doesn't quite give the joy that coffee used to, but it keeps the monkey off my back.

No furrowed brows

gravity

Gravity Bites, or as the best history teacher at my junior high put it this planet sucks.

anyway... wish I could just teleport out to the playa to see Zach's new sculpture. And to hang at carp for an afternoon.

trophy bag

I heart "we make money not art" -- check out the high design pet store so we can spend big bucks to make fun of our cats.

small is tall, black is white

the world's energy problems can be solved by attaching a generator to orwell's spinning corpse. if you haven't read 1984 since the selection of rove's handpuppet, read it. get the nice hardcover from the library, as the $3 paperback is astoundingly poorly printed.

anyway, when my small drip coffee was delivered, the clerk dutifully called it a 'tall'. I commented to the wife about it, and she says "they probably get docked if they call it a small". From there, the gears started turning.

Starbucks' naming is the thin end of the wedge. Once we start accepting that small is tall, we'll believe whatever they feed us on fox news.

I heart big brother.

withdrawl update

taking time off the bean has been harsh. I had a small drip coffee from starfucks this morning. I was feeling might grim before then.

yesterday's caffiene intake was one mug of crappy bigelow green tea, plus one diet dr. pepper.

off the bean?

I am outrageously dragass today. but I will resist 'the bean'.

I undrstand that some people take the time to detox from sweet mother coffee every once and a while so that coffee will once again work.

coffee isn't working anymore.

yet, when I don't have it, I'm so sleepy.

wonder how long withdrawal will take.

and how long it will take to wind up with a hideous tolerance again.

*sigh*

instant margarita

best part of lemon ice gatorade was the 'instant margarita' ... with built-in hangover protection.

gotta try it with pocari sweat mix.

Dakara, Pokari Sweat, etc.

I need to find an american distributor of Suntory's Dakara.

I hate gatorade. I especially hate gatorade after my brief infatuation with the wonderful, colorless, somehow not-too-horrifyingly-sugary Lemon Ice Gatorade, which has been discontinued. Let me expand that to "I hate american sports drinks". Maybe it's the food coloring. maybe it's that they're far too sugary.

I kind of like Pocari Sweat, and will likely stock up on pocari sweat powder. It's a little on the sweet side, as is Aquarius. Amino Supli is a reasonable fallback. The clear favorite is Dakara.

Please. please find an american vendor of Dakara. Bonus points if a powdered mix can be found.
